Little People of Kosova, Inc., is a nonprofit organization that provides support and information to people of short stature and their families. Membership is offered to those people who are usually no taller than 4 \'10 \" in height. Their short stature is generally caused by one of the more than 200 medical conditions known as dwarfism.	Membership is also available to relatives and interested professionals who work with persons with disability and short statures individuals. Who are we? Dwarfs or other people of short statue (either proportionate or disproportionate) come from all walks of life and ethnic backgrounds. Most people with dwarfism are born to average-size parents with no history of dwarfism in the family.	Although some types of dwarfism may have associated medical complications, most short-statured individuals have a normal life span and normal intelligence. In fact, people with dwarfism have achieved the same range of career paths as average-size persons, including doctors, lawyers, ministers, teachers, welders, and artists. Our Parents Group provides valuable information and opportunities for families. Children meet short-statured adult role models as well as other children with dwarfism. It is important to know that they are not alone. Parents exchange ideas and learn about health care, adapting the home and school, laws that address their children \'s needs, and everyday community experiences.	As adolescence can be an especially tough time for young people with dwarfism, LPK offers support and guidance to teens and young adults on many issues. PTK has sponsored preparations, activities and participation of the NGO Little People of Kosova in the Seventh United Nations Convention for the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights and Dignity of Persons with Disabilities, held in New York, USA, during January and February 2006. The representative of the NGO Little People of Kosova, Hilmnijeta Apuk, actively participated as a member of the Ad Hoc Committee which is the first ever convention of its kind and is responsible for the process of creating, reviewing and issuing of the UN convention on human rights and dignity of people with disabilities. Among the issues discussed were equality and non-discrimination, raising awareness regarding disability, accessibility, right to life, equal recognition before the law, access to justice, liberty and security of the person, liberty of movement, personal mobility, living independently and being included in the community. Hilmnijeta Apuk delivered a presentation on the 3rd February 2006 in which she conveyed the valuable experience of the Kosovo movement of Disabled People in implementing during the last four years the Voluntary Promotion Program; Disability Mentoring Day (DMD) or the Day of Professional Opportunities for disabled people; an idea conveyed from U.S.A., which was accepted with great interest in the global scene, Also, the NGO Little People of Kosova gave their suggestions for Article 6 which refers specifically to Women with Disabilities and then suggestions on Article 8, which refers to increasing public awareness about people with disabilities.	By participating in the Ad Hoc Committee and making presentations the people with disabilities of Kosovo has been successfully represented in the eyes of the world and begun the development of network in the global level with all relevant factors regarding to the issues of human rights of people with disabilities. The International movement of people with disabilities has insisted on bringing global legislation with which the economic, social, cultural and political rights of people with disabilities will be guaranteed. An additional result from the DMD Promotional Package Program is that, on the 8 of March was organized a campaign focused on women with disabilities and in that way has started the increase of public awareness towards the goals of the convention on human rights and dignity of people with disabilities. During the main ceremony of the campaign one of the speakers was a representative of PTK; Mr. Seremb Gjergji, Public Relations Manager, who talked about the efforts of PTK to enable the employment of disabled people in all PTK departments. I have wonderful news from my country- Kosova regarding the Campaign for the Disability Mentoring Day, this is third year that Kosova successfully organizes DMD event-striving to became traditional.	In this Campaign we achieved to involve the Government-based on US DMD model. With DMD idea-the best idea of the century-you have encouraged us to open the window of opportunity aimed in improving the position of the disabled people throughout the world. The DMD Campaign is among the best ideas that happened at the end of 20 century; let me compare the revolutionary idea of DMD- with importance of the invention of steam-engine, the invention of the Internet.	The idea of DMD came from USA and now is becoming the idea of the world.	We, the people with disabilities, support the idea of the DMD because it enhances the perspective of disabled people, and challenges the perception for the disabled people, the role and their contribution in the society.	This year, the Campaign became even more successful, it has been approximately 1000 mentor-mentee initiatives, including Government, media, private businesses and NGO’s.	Throughout the Campaign US Office in Prishtine supported us, and we are extremely grateful to them.	The DMD ceremonies in Washington, Prishtina and else in the world, occurs at the same time, so we would take the advantage of this moment to congratulate all DMD participants with the best wishes and future successes.	Dear friends from USA you supported and stood by us, while we learned how to fight challenges ahead of us. You taught us that in order to change the perception on disabled people and their abilities to contribute to the society the time in needed, changing the set of mind is process- and that we are part of that process, bearing in mind that we-as individuals and as community should be more proactive in achieving this goals.	Throughout our joint experience we realized how unjust and unfair the stereotypes regarding disabilities are in determining our position in the society.	Let the unity leads us forward, and our enthusiasm for helping disabled people achieves the levels that were unimaginable before DMD.
